This chapter provides instructions for installing and performing initial configuration of the Nectar Endpoint Client Agent (henceforth EPC) on MacOS.

    Installing the Nectar Endpoint Client

For Mac systems, the Nectar EPC Agent installation software is provided as an executable file, available here.

After installation, right click the EPC Utility icon in your menu bar, and select Settings to edit the agent's configuration. From this menu, you can also uninstall the agent (see Uninstalling the Agent).

To install the Nectar Endpoint Client:

    1. If you have not already done so, save the Nectar EPC installer to a directory on the Mac where the agent will be installed.

    2. Run the executable installer.

    3. Wait approximately 15 minutes for the download to complete.

    4. The EPC Utility Icon will then appear in your menu bar.

      1. If your menu bar contains too many items, hold down the Command key and click the menu bar to reveal hidden icons, including the EPC Utility.

    5. Right click on the EPC Utility icon and select Settings.

      1. Enter the following configuration information:

        1. Agent Name

        2. Organization/Group IDs provided by your system administrator

        3. Domain name: nectarcorp

        4. Domain Password provided by your system administrator

        5. Controller Address: neccontroller.us.nectar.services

        6. Port: 443

      2. Run the Reachability Test

      3. Click Apply Settings

    6. Right click on the EPC Utility icon again and select Status.

(Bandwidth metrics will not immediately appear)

    Uninstalling the Agent

To uninstall the Nectar Endpoint Client Agent:

    1. Stop the application by right clicking the EPC Utility icon and selecting Close.

    2. Open Applications.

    3. Drag the EPC Utility Icon to the Trash Bin.

    Troubleshooting

If the agent was installed and configured successfully but is unable to execute tests, check to make sure that the agent is not being blocked by the firewall. For a list of ports that must be open for the agent to function properly, refer to Ports and Protocols.
