During setup, the EPC Setup Wizard will offer to automatically create Windows firewall exceptions for the ports used by the agent and Controller. If you disable this option or are using a third-party firewall, ensure that the following local and remote ports are open in your firewall configuration to allow the agent to function properly.
Local Ports:
Protocol | Port Number(s) | Direction | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
TCP | 443 | Outbound | Manages connections to Controller |
UDP | 68 | Outbound | DHCP client |
UDP & TCP | 5060* | Inbound/ Outbound | SIP signaling |
UDP | 29999* | Inbound/ Outbound | Packet trains to/from remote peer agent (Peer-to-Peer tests) |
UDP | 30000-50000 | Inbound/ Outbound | Real-time media |
ICMP | N/A | Inbound | Inbound ICMP messages (required for some network tests) |
Remote Ports:
Protocol | Port Number(s) | Direction | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
TCP | 26022* | Outbound | Controller SCP (TLS certificate bundle transfer) |
TCP | 40006* | Outbound | Manages connections to Controller |
TCP & UDP | 53 | Outbound | DNS resolution |
UDP | 67 | Outbound | DHCP server communication |
UDP & TCP | 5060* | Inbound/ Outbound | SIP signaling |
UDP & TCP | 5061* | Inbound/ Outbound | SIP signaling |
UDP | 29999 | Inbound/ Outbound | Packet trains to/from remote peer agent (Peer-to-Peer tests) |
* Default port number. A different port number can be assigned during setup/configuration of the Controller (see the Nectar EPC-Controller SSE Installation Guide or Nectar EPC-Controller MSE Installation Guide for details).
EPC requires that certain ICMP functions be enabled on the Windows host which are typically blocked by the Windows Firewall. The EPC Setup Wizard automatically enables the minimal set of ICMP functionality required during Agent installation.
